Saturday 27th February - There is more to life than this

Good evening I want to start by publicly saying thank you to Ali for doing the blogs for the past few days which I know have been an encouragement to many. We are doing well and have had a day of rest and time together. My body is physically keeping well and we have been sleeping well considering the week we have had. We are waiting for the consultant to call us in to sign papers to start the process of going for a clinical trial. This will involve a genetic test taking 7 days to wait for the results and then a brain scan to see if things have stabilised.

Tuesday and Wednesday were hard days processing the information and choices we were given. Throughout the past few days we have really felt people's prayers, which have been answered as the peace and strength of the Lord has truly upheld us. Whenever I try and qualify my faith to people one of the things I say to them is that 'there must be more to life than this'. Within our situation it screams there must be. Well there is! We can all have the hope of heaven, that when this life is gone there is another in which to dwell in. John 5 v24 says 'Very truly I tell you whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life'. We have a a hope and it does not fade or perish.

Verse for the day: Psalm 73 v 23- 28

Prayer for the day: Please pray for the continued peace, strength and ministering of the Lord. Please pray for the the Lord's will in treatment and for its success. Pray for the scan of the brain which will be in around 2 weeks time. Pray for sleep and rest and for wisdom in what to do. Pray for the Lord to be our families strength and for us to be able to support them also.

  1. Give thanks that we have an inheritance that will never spoil, perish and fade, kept in heaven for us. Give thanks that we have an awesome God who knows, understands and shows us compassion. Give thanks for all the prayers that have been answered over the many weeks and that we can see God;s hand in this situation.

  2. How wonderful to hear from you, Glen, and to share a little more detail regarding the clinical trial and the possible ways ahead for you. I join you in your thanks to Al for his regular updates over your past week, with all its difficulties and challenges. They feel like a Godsend to those of us who love and are praying for, and suffering with, you from further afield.

I thank the Almighty Lord for sustaining you, Anne and your families through this particularly trying week. I pray that it is his will to continue to provide you all with peace, rest, patience and confidence as you wait to sign paperwork, have your genetic test and brain scan, and await the results of these. Please, Father in Heaven, guide Glen's medical carers to use the talents and expertise that you have endowed them with to make wise and certain judgments. May they convey these to Glen and Anne with clarity, confidence and reassurance. We place our ultimate trust and faith in you, Lord, that our will for Glen's complete recovery from this torturous disease is you will to.
